The 2020 Audi e-tron GT: Here's What You Need to Know About This Tesla Fighter
In the true Audi tradition, the German automaker released teaser images of its Audi e-tron GT electric sedan ahead of its official showcase at the 2018 Los Angeles Motor Show this week. Now that the upcoming electric car has officially made its debut, here is all that you need to know about this Tesla fighting electric sedan.
Part of the Volkswagen group, the Audi e-tron GT will be part of company's electrification initiative and will sit alongside the likes of Porsche Taycan. The 2020 Audi e-tron GT will be a fastback sedan, incorporating the company's second electric platform. In addition to the fastback design, the e-tron GT features the company's electric design language with sharp lines across the bodywork.
The powertrain of the e-tron SUV will be shared with the e-tron GT performance sedan.
This electric powertrain in the performance sedan produces a maximum peak power output of 265 kW, which is equal to around 350-355 horsepower with a peak torque figure of 414 ft lbs. The e-tron GT's electric motors accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 2.6 seconds with the boost feature turned. The car will do the same sprint in around 2.8 seconds when the boost feature is turned off.

The performance sedan gets a 95 kWh battery pack, which will be used to offer long range driving capabilities. The battery pack can be charged up to 80 percent in 30 minutes using 150 kWh high-speed DC charging station.
The battery pack is built with aluminum shielding as the foundation and has an integrated honeycomb structure to offer maximum protection in event of a collision. The pack has been designed with actively liquid-cooled thermal management system, which offers fast charge and enhanced performance.
The interior of e-tron GT is more conventional than its arch-rival, the Tesla Model S.
Tesla takes a futuristic, minimalistic design approach for its interiors. Whereas Audi is sticking with conventional design features inside the cabin.
We find a conventional Drive selector mounted in the middle of the center console. In addition, there is a split MMI touchscreen display integrated into the middle of the dash, which sits right underneath the front AC vents. Audi's Visual Cockpit also get an all-digital, colored instrumentation cluster.
With Audi's aggressive styling and the substantial popularity the brand has in its global market, the e-tron GT will be a worthy contender against the segments current front runner, the Tesla Model S.
