Perceptive Automata Joins Renovo's AWare, Adding Human Behavior Prediction Software

Boston-based Perceptive Automata, a company working on human behavior prediction software for autonomous vehicles, has announced that it has joined the AWare ecosystem developed by Silicon Valley-based Renovo, a mobility software technology company developing a scalable operating system (OS) to manage autonomous vehicle fleets.

Perceptive Automata says it solved one of the most difficult problems for autonomous vehicles—understanding a pedestrian's often unpredictable behavior. For example, how would an autonomous car know that a pedestrian intends to yield to allow a car pass before they try and cross the street, or will this pedestrian expect a self-driving car to yield for them.

These are common scenarios a driverless car must contend with. The focus of Perceptive Automata is using AI-powered software to predict this type of pedestrian behavior—allowing a driverless car to navigate much more safely.

Perceptive Automata's artificial intelligence powered software gives automated vehicles the ability to anticipate what a person might do next, so they can navigate in road environments alongside pedestrians, cyclists, and other drivers.

Automated mobility fleet deployments using Renovo's AWare OS will gain access to Perceptive Automata's critically important algorithms to enable the safer deployment of automated vehicles and a smoother ride experience for passengers.

Perceptive Automata is working globally with OEMs, suppliers, and tech companies that are developing or integrating advanced driver assist systems (ADAS), as well as vehicles equipped with level 3 and 4 autonomous systems.

Renovo's AWare OS is the first operating system built specifically for automated mobility. The OS provides interfaces for self-driving software with an ecosystem of industry partners and technology to help speed development and deployment of autonomous fleets.

Renovo OS is agnostic, so it works with a wide range of companies who are working to develop and deploy automated fleets at scale.
