Here Are the Top EV Concepts Showcased at Pebble Beach 2019

Those in attendance at last year's Concours d'Elegance were quite pleased when German automaker Mercedes-Benz brought its Silver Arrow concept to the annual show in Pebble Beach, California

For the first time ever, this year's Pebble Beach was a hotbed for futuristic electric cars just as much as it was a gathering of vintage cars and multimillion-dollar auctions of original classics. The stunning Mercedes Benz Silver Arrow inspired other automakers to debut their own unique electric vehicle concepts at one of the world's most rewoned automotive gatherings. 

Here are some of the most stunning electric car concepts showcased at this year's Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance.

Bentley EXP 100 GT Concept

The EXP 100 GT concept is Bentley's vision of what a grand touring EV would be in the year 2035. The luxury concept car was designed to commemorate 100 years of the Bentley brand and features an all-aluminum and carbon fiber body. The 7.8 feet wide and 19 feet long concept vehicle weighs 4,188 pounds. 

The large grill at the front features over 6,000 individual LED bulbs. The EXP 100 is powered by an all-electric powertrain, which can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 2.5 seconds, offers 435 miles of range. 

Bentley said the car is not slated for production but it will act as a design and tech guide for future electric Bentley models.

Pininfarina Battista

The Pininfarina Battista is not only the most powerful street-legal Italian sports car, but it's also one of the most stunning offerings to have ever come out of the premium Italian design house. 

The Battista first appeared at the 2019 Geneva Motor Show and is built out of Pininfarina's Munich facility in collaboration with Croatian electric sports car maker Raimac, sharing 40-50% of its components with Raimac's C2 electric hypercar.

The Battista includes a quad-electric motor setup with one motor located on each wheel producing a combined power output of 1,900 horsepower, which propels the car from 0 to 60 mph in under 2 seconds, accelerating all the way up to a top speed of 217 mph.

The track proven Pininfarina Battista can also accelerate from zero to 186 mph in under 12 seconds. The company claims that the supercar is capable of 280 miles of all-electric range. 

The Italian hypercar is powered by a 120 kWh battery pack which is built in a T-shaped configuration and sits low in the car's carbon-fiber, aircraft-style monocoque chassis. 

However this supercar is not for everyone.

Pininfarina announced that it will only produce 150 Batistas. The car is expected to go on sale sometime next year with prices starting around $2.5 million.

Lotus Evija

Equipped with an all-wheel-drive system similar to the one in the Raimac C2 and Pininfarina Battista, the Lotus Evija is powered by four electric motors with each motor powering a single wheel.

Mated to a midship-mounted 70 kWh battery pack, this hypercar can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in less than 3 seconds and the 0 to 186 mph run takes less than 9 seconds. 

According to Lotus, the Evija gets a top speed just north of 200 mph with a WLTP cycle electric driving range of 250 miles.

The Lotus Evija also comes with the first of its kind 800 kW charging system. The battery pack can churn out up to 2 MW of power output thanks to a unique battery management system that allows the Evija to be continuously driven at full power for 7 minutes in track mode. 

Lotus says that the Evija can be recharged up to 80% using a 350 KW CCS combo charger in 12 minutes and a complete charge takes just 18 minutes. 

Only 130 Lotus Evijas will be manufactured in a limited production run. Each car will feature a price tag of around $2.5 million. Despite the steep price, all of the Evijas destined for the U.S. have already been reserved.
